Happy New Year! We hope you and your families had a fun-filled holiday season.
In December the students enjoyed many Creative Arts and Sciences presentations. The New England Percussion Ensemble performed for the entire school. The second graders saw the Chinese Ribbon Dancer. The fourth graders had a visit from Brandeis Professor Perlman who spoke about plate tectonics, earthquakes and volcanoes, and the Museum of Science presented Weather: Wind, Water and temperature to the fifth graders. Thank you to Liz Beckett and Elizabeth Graham for setting up these enriching presentations.
The library gift book sale, also in December, was a big success. Thank you to the families who purchased the many books that will help replenish our school library. Also, thank you to Jee Baum for coordinating this event, and to Ariela Sade, Jessica Miguel, Lisa Strope, Amy Penna, Helen Haley, Zina Ward, Aimee Spring and Louise Bonegio for helping out with the sale.
The Understanding our Differences team presented a unit on blindness and low vision to the third graders and a unit on physical disabilities to the fourth graders during the month of December. For more information on UOD, please see the specific section in the newsletter. Thank you to all of the parents who helped to facilitate these important lessons for our children.
The green team t-shirts have arrived! Thank you to Tracy Miller for coordinating this effort. If you missed out on ordering and would like a green t-shirt, there are a few extras. Please contact Tracy at firstname.lastname@example.org to find out if there’s one available in your size. New Zervas apparel is also making a comeback. Sweat shirts and sweat pants are now available for sale. For more information, please contact Caroline Wilson at email@example.com.
