Celebrate International Walk to School Day and Soles4Souls Gently Used Shoes/Sneakers Collection!

Safe Routes to School and schools all over the World will participate in International Walk to School Day TOMORROW (Wednesday, October 3rd), when students will join together to walk and bicycle to school.

There are lots of ways to celebrate! It can be as easy as students walking/biking together with parents or friends to Zervas, or by parents and kids organizing a walking school bus for their neighborhood for the walk to Zervas. Help make the Newton and the Zervas community a more healthy & environmentally friendly place.

Through Newton’s Safe Routes to School Task Force, students from all of Newton’s 21 public schools will also be collecting new and gently used pairs of shoes/sneakers to donate to children in need, saving shoes from our landfills and incinerators. There will be a designated drop off box in front of the  Zervas School Office on October 3rd and 4th. Pairs of shoes/sneakers will be then donated to the Soles4Souls or the Cradle to Crayons shoe collection efforts.
