Newton Mothers’ Forum’s signature speaker series Moms’ Night Out will take place on Monday, February 5 from 7-9 pm at the Carroll Center for the Blind’s Technology Center (770 Centre Street, Newton).
Our keynote speaker will be Rebecca Givens Rolland, an award-winning writer, clinician, and education lecturer. For the MNO, Rebecca will be talking about helping people capture their memories in writing. Her talk will focus on the writing process, effective storytelling, and transforming lived experiences into words. Rebecca is the author of numerous short stories and three poetry collections. Her nonfiction writing has appeared on USA Today, Salon, The Huffington Post, Edutopia, and WBUR’s Cognoscenti. As a creative coach, Rebecca has worked with multiple writers on developing groups of poems and short fiction, as well as revising entire manuscripts. In addition to her creative work, Rebecca teaches at Harvard and works as a speech pathologist at Children’s Hospital Boston. Fluent in French, she is raising her children bilingually alongside her husband Philippe.
Our community spotlight speaker will be a representative from Birthday Wishes, a locally founded organization that provides birthday parties for homeless children. You can find out more about them at birthdaywishes.org
We will have a delicious catered meal from a local restaurant so come hungry!
