Seeking PTO Volunteers

This is the time of year when we reach out and build our PTO for next year. We will need your help more than ever next year as we move back into more normal times! We have several PTO positions open that we’d like to fill before summer, and there will be more roles that we’ll be looking to fill in the fall. There is something for everyone, from one-off tasks to bigger and more involved commitments with our committees and our board.

We, the PTO, do all this work because we believe in our wonderful Zervas school. We believe creating community is important, helping support out students and our Zervas staff is essential, and that these elementary years are a pretty special time in our lives. Want to join in on that??

Please reach out to Dana Fernandez and Suzanne Afergan at to express interest and/or get more information.

Creative Arts and Sciences (CAS) Co-Chairs: We are looking for two parents. Did your child love the CAS presentation this year?  Are you interested in helping to pick out programs for the school while supporting teachers?  Would you like an opportunity to be in the classroom for the presentation?

The CAS co-chairs works with the CAS committee and directly with Dr. Beck and the classroom teachers to bring each grade three Creative Arts and Sciences programs a year.  Additionally, the chairs participate in a monthly meeting at the district level with the CAS chairs from the other schools in the district.

Kindergarten Soccer Co-Chairs: Kindergarten Soccer is by far the largest fundraiser for the Zervas PTO. It greatly impacts your PTO dues, and helps provide some of the amazing programming for students in school, as well as the Zervas community. We are looking for two parents to run the program, which includes managing the logistics from an operations perspective (registration, building of teams, coaches, field permits, equipment ordering and scheduling) marketing the program, and recruiting and managing volunteers throughout the season.

Teacher Appreciation Chair: Organize and manage teacher appreciation efforts throughout the year. This mostly includes organizing teacher appreciation meals. This role has room to be creative in thinking of new ways to appreciate our teachers (i.e. Welcome Back lawn signs from this year).

School Directory: We are looking for a volunteer to help with some backend data entry and data maintenance for our online school directory.

PTO Board: The PTO Board meets monthly and consists of various positions responsible for overseeing all of the efforts of our PTO. Let us know if you have interest in joining the Board.
