Summer program for your pre-schooler

Your child will love art, music and play at the Newton Cultural Center. Time for Partners is for children 18 months to 4 years, with an adult. One day a week (or more), Mondays through Thursdays from 9:30 am – 11:15 am, June 25th – August 2nd.  Art and Music every day, and a chance to make new friends while learning and having fun. Time for Families is similar program in June only, with one price for the whole family. Summer Swing is a half-day drop-off program for children ages 3 – 6. Week-Long Summer Art Programs

Join the fun and creative week-long sessions for children and teens this summer! Be inspired by exciting and educational themes in the Children’s Program for grades 1-6. Daily classes in Visual Arts, Drama, Ceramics and Sculpture/3D, give children the opportunity to learn and grow with friends while being creative and having fun!Special presentations booked weekly with our favorite community partners! Teen Afternoon Ceramics, for students entering grades 7-10, 3:30-5:30 pm, gives teens more opportunity to work on hand-building skills and on the Potter’s Wheel. All skill levels are welcome. Pippin

The musical Pippin tells the hilariously crazy, darkly surreal, but ultimately uplifting story of Pippin’s journey through a Wonderland-based alternate reality to find purpose and complete fulfillment in his life. Rythmic Gymnastics Open House

Rhythmic Dreams, New England’s elite non-profit rhythmic gymnastics school located in West Newton, is hosting a FREE Summer Program Open House on Monday, May 28th, from 2:00-4:00pm. Since 2002, Newton’s “best kept secret” has produced many local and national champions in this beautiful sport for girls, under the expert coaching of former champions from Romania, Ukraine, US and Russia. Stop by on Memorial Day to have fun with ribbons, balls, and hoops and learn tips for improving your flexibility, strength and coordination. Basketball Camps

Waban Village Day and Family Fun Run

Planning is in full swing for the Eighth Annual Waban Village Day on Sunday, May 20th, 10:00 am -3:00 pm. It will be filled with its traditional events, rides, entertainment, food and, of course, the family Fun Run starting off the festivities at 10:00 am in front of the Waban Library Center, 1608 Beacon Street. Even if you don’t participate, come down to cheer on the racers and meet Grand Marshal, Sheldon Rothman, the oldest PMC participate at 83yrs young. Corporate angel Whole Foods will be on hand, helping out with some healthy food selections as well as hosting a booth and new this year will be a Beer Garden on the lawn of the Waban Library Center. The Art of Musical Comedy:

In this exciting, new afternoon program, students learn what it takes to be a master of the art of musical comedy performance. This summer program for students ages 7-13 will be held at the Newton Cultural Center, 225 Nevada Street,  Mondays – Thursdays, June 25th – July 12th, 1:00 – 3:00 pm (no class July 4th) $225.

From 1:00-2:00 each day, students will hone their acting skills with improv and theater games, used by such illustrious theater companies as Chicago’s Second City. Then, from 2:00-3:00 each day, students will learn to sing and dance their favorite show tunes, from shows ranging from “The Sound of Music” to “Wicked.” This will culminate, at the end of the program, in a Broadway-style cabaret performance of these songs for family and friends. Attention 5th Grade Parents –

Space is limited, but there’s still time to sign up – only a few spaces remain for 2012-2013! The Newton Highlands After-School Program, just for middle school children is hosting an Open House for interested families on Thursday, May 17th from 5:30-6:30 pm at Brigham House, 20 Hartford Street, Newton Highlands.
