Summer Soccer Camp

Boys and girls, ages 6-13, entering grades 1-8, are invited to attend a one week soccer camp geared on fun and development.  The camp will run August 6th-9th (Monday-Thursday) 8:30 am – 11:30 am at DeFazio Park’s turf fields in Needham.  Cost is $215.  Camp brochure can be found here .

Club Invention Summer Program Returns!

Club Invention focuses on projects that enhance creativity, teamwork, and inventive-thinking skills. Children entering grades 1-6 participate daily in five project modules promoting science, technology, engineering, math, and the arts through creative problem-solving and critical thinking skills.

Newton teachers lead the curricula and Judi Fitts, a Cabot 4th grade teacher, returns as director. Register for one or both weeks: July 9th -13th and/or July 16th -20th. Spotlight summer theater workshop

Spotlight offers two  3-week summer theater workshops for kids age 7 – 17. Participants will be instructed in singing, acting, dancing, film/television acting, auditioning, and
technical theater. There will be a fully staged musical production at the end of the session, in which everyone will be cast. The show is open to family, friends, and the public!

A Step Ahead Basketball (ASA Hoops)

ASA Hoops is offering tryouts for boys AAU grades: 4-8.  Tryouts are starting Feb 12th and taking place on weekends throughout the month.  ASA is also holding its annual February Vacation basketball clinic Feb. 20th – 24th, 9:00 am -1:00 pm.  All events are taking place in Newton at the Mackenzie Center.

Girls’ Soccer clinics

The Boston College Women’s Soccer program will be holding their April and Summer clinics for girls ages 6-14. LatinSummer Boston

Introducing “LatinSummer Boston,” a two-week summer enrichment program that provides students in grades 1-7 a unique chance to learn about Latin and the classical world! Creative and enthusiastic instructors will provide a wide array of exciting and hands-on activities that introduce students to many varied aspects of classical and conversational Latin, Greco-Roman mythology, and Roman culture and daily life. No prior knowledge of Latin or Classics is required. 
 

LatinSummer Boston will run from 9:00 am – 12:30 pm on weekdays from July 23th – August 3rd at The Roxbury Latin School.  Registration fees range from $65-$250 per student depending on financial need. Tee-shirts provided! Registrations are accepted by mail or online through May 15th. Camp Fair Sunday, January 29

The city is sponsoring its yearly camp fair this year on Sunday, January 29 at Newton North from noon to 4:00 pm. Camps run by Newton Parks & Recreation and the Newton Public Schools (including Newton Community Education and SPACE camp), will be represented at the fair. Come early to reserve your child’s spot in the program of his or her choice for Summer 2012, or to learn more about the many varied options offered in our city.
