Principal evaluation process

Dear Zervas Parents,

As I hope you are aware, I will be spending a few hours at your school on Tuesday, May 3rd to hear from some of you regarding your experiences with your principal, Steve Griffin, as part of the principal evaluation process.  I realize that our conversations are likely to be brief and all issues may not get addressed.  I’d like to assure you that if you are unable to meet with me, I am happy to hear from you by phone (617-559-6105) or email ( if that’s easier.

I will be looking for you to be honest and direct, as the information I gather will help inform the principal of areas where work needs to be done as well as areas of success.  I will be looking to categorize comments in the following leadership standard categories: Shared vision for the school; School culture; Instructional program; Management; Collaboration; Professional integrity; and Communication skills.

It should be noted that I will be sharing a summary of comments from teachers and parents with the principal, however no names will be used in that summary.  My intention is to provide feedback while maintaining anonymity.

This is one piece of the summative evaluation process.  Other areas include staff feedback, observation of a principal led activity, a portfolio of accomplishments/communication, and a self-evaluation and reflection.

I look forward to meeting with many of you on Tuesday.  If you have not signed up, but wish to, please see Anne Hadley in the main office.
