Co-Presidents’ Letter

In this, our last letter of the school year, we’d like to wish you all a happy and safe summer. To the families of 5th graders: congratulations and to those graduating from Zervas altogether: congratulations and good wishes for everything your future holds. We look forward to hearing great things about the Zervas class of 2011 in the years to come.
Before we part ways for several months, we would like to send a huge thank you to all of the volunteers who gave time, money, goods, and other services and resources to make Zervas a better place this year….and the good news is that if it didn’t work out for you this year, there will be even more opportunities next year.
And now, a couple of events to round out the next few weeks:
June 8th – Zervas Family Picnic 6:00 – 7:30pm weather permitting
Bring a blanket and lawn chairs and enjoy a pleasant evening outside with Zervas families and staff. Bring your own picnic or a few dollars to purchase pizza. The Lincoln Street Coffee truck will be on site if you wish to get a specialty drink (a portion of the sales proceeds will be donated to the PTO). Bulk water will be provided andwe request that everyone bring a reusable water bottle from home (make sure to label with a name).
Around 7:00pm we will be dedicating a tree to honor Charlotte Klein’s contributions to Zervas. Please join us at the tree (near the Zervas Garden) for a few minutes as we thank her for her years of dedication.
June 10th – PTO General Membership Meeting 8:45 – 9:30am
We are fortunate to have guest presenters Sally Mazur and Erin Broderick tell us about the Newton Schools’ anti-bullying programs and answer any questions you might have. Also, we’ll nominate and vote in the new members of our PTO Executive Board. Please come to the Zervas Library immediately following morning drop-off. Don’t forget, if you are a parent/guardian of a Zervas, you are a PTO member.
June 22nd – Last Day of school! 12:00 noon release
A light snack will be provided by the PTO. Enjoy some refreshments while saying goodbye to friends and teachers.
