Dear Zervas Families,
As you are aware, Steve Griffin will be retiring in June after seven years of exemplary service. Steve has been a wonderfully collaborative leader, who has developed terrific relationships with students, parents and families. He has cherished his time at Zervas and I know that his dedication and commitment is greatly appreciated by all stakeholders in the Zervas community.
Selecting a principal is one of the most critical decisions made by a superintendent. Principals are expected to provide excellent educational leadership, establish a positive school culture, and manage the daily operation of the building. Since the principal’s position impacts the entire school community, it is important that the process provides an opportunity for all voices to be heard.
As a result, I am setting up two meetings at Zervas; one for parents, and one for faculty and staff. At these meetings, I will review the process and timeline for selecting a principal, solicit input on the professional and personal attributes you seek in a principal, and explain how you may be directly involved in the search process.
The parent meeting will take place in the gym on December 13, 2011 at 7:30 p.m. I hope you will be able to join me so we may work together to secure the best possible leadership for all members of the Zervas community.
Sincerely,
David A. Fleishman
Superintendent of Schools
