We hope you and your children have all settled into the routines of the new school year, and are looking forward to the year ahead at Zervas.
September is always a very busy month for the PTO, and this past month was no exception. We hosted two community wide events, The Welcome Coffees on the first two days of school, and the family picnic the week after – which we know many of you attended given that we ordered 90 pizzas and ran out in record time! Thanks to Barbara Talvite (coffees) and Alison Glastein and Heidi Gambino (picnics) who
coordinated these efforts, and also to the many people who pitched in to make these events successful. We also want to thank Mary Hoppe and her team of volunteers for orchestrating Picture Day, which seemed to go off without a hitch.
We are crossing our fingers for good weather for the Walk to School Day on October 3rd coordinated by Joe Sypek), and hope parents will join us that same evening for the PTO General meeting where we’ll go over our plans for the year.
The Halloween Dance is coming up later in the month on Friday October 26thso please mark your calendars and consider lending a hand if you are planning on going to this fun event. We hope you have also marked your calendars for November 3rd, so that you can attend Destination Dinner. It is a great way to socialize and meet other Zervas families, so book your babysitters now!
There are many committees planning programming and activities throughout the year so please be on the lookout, and speak up if you’d like to get involved and haven’t already (volunteer@zervaspto.org). Please check the Zervas calendar for upcoming events and activities, and let one of us know if you have any questions at all.
Best regards,
Joanne Hooker and Helen Haley
