Creative Arts and Sciences

The parent led Creative Arts and Sciences Committee brings programs in music, dance, drama, the fine arts, and sciences to enrich and expand the curriculum at Zervas. The scientists and artists scheduled to come in are of high professional quality and merit and share an interest in educating children. Please be aware of these upcoming events your child(ren) will be experiencing soon:

3rd grade, Wednesday, October 24th: The Canopy Guy – Eric Olson, Brandeis Professor will present an overview to both classes as they venture outside to study a tree (he will climb the tree), followed by  individual classroom workshops.

1st grade, Wednesday, October 31st: Insect Friends – Eric Olson will bring bins of dirt crawling with bugs, for some hands on, age-appropriate, science exploration. Woven into his program are fascinating facts and demonstrations on the hidden world in our own backyards.

All School performance, Friday, November 2nd: Concert Series – Opera to Go!
Opera to Go! is a repertory company of male and female vocalists whose mission is to introduce students to opera. With piano accompaniment, the troupe presents an introduction to opera and performs abridged versions of well-known operas. This interactive program answers the question, what is opera, by creating vivid characters and exciting stories with singing. Opera to Go! leads students through the basic elements of opera, then  improvises an opera based on a popular story. The audience is invited to join in  this opera either as the chorus or the on-stage cast.
