Dear Zervas Families:
Happy New Year and welcome back! We hope you had a relaxing vacation. The PTO has a lot going on in the next few months and as always, we could use your help and support. You will be hearing more about the Zervas Auction in the coming weeks. The Auction will take place on March 29th. That may seem far away, but the Auction Committee is already hard at work planning for this event. If you are new to Zervas, the Auction is a two part event with an online auction followed a few weeks later by an evening event where you can socialize with fellow Zervas parents and bid on more great items. The Auction is one of our biggest fundraisers so please consider donating something, contributing to the class baskets, buying raffle tickets, and certainly please bid online and at the Auction itself on March 29th.
We are also looking for volunteers to help with the Kindergarten Soccer program which is another significant fundraiser for the PTO, as well as a great public service for Newton’s kindergarteners. We have been fortunate to have Debra Stump, Matt Goldstein and Scott Goddess at the helm of this program for the last few years, but it is time for them to pass the torch to some new parent volunteers. Scott is in charge of getting the equipment to the fields on Saturday mornings during the season and we are looking for a replacement for him for the spring season as he is taking on some other volunteer tasks. This is a job which can easily be shared by a few parents taking a few Saturdays each, and is ideal if you have children who will be playing in the soccer program. Debra and Matt will be staying on through the spring season but they are eager to have some volunteers in place soon so that they can pass on their knowledge of how to manage the program. This would be a great volunteer opportunity for a few friends who want to work together, so please let either of us know if you are interested in helping to organize the soccer program.
As always, if you have questions or need more information about any school events, please feel free to contact us.
Best,
Helen and Amy
