This year, there will be two room parents for each classroom and two grade parents for each grade.

Room Parents will serve as a link between teacher and families by: assisting teachers in communicating with families about upcoming events and recruiting volunteers for field trips, donations and other activities; organizing a schedule for library volunteers for the class; and coordinating holiday and year-end gifts for teachers and classroom aides.

Grade Parents will coordinate activities for the grade, including: a casual fall and spring evening social event for moms and/or dads (e.g., meeting at a local restaurant or bar where everyone pays their own tab or at a family’s home where each guest brings an appetizer, dessert or wine); a grade basket for the Zervas auction in April (instead of class baskets); and refreshments and decorations for Zervas staff during the grade’s assigned Teacher Appreciation Month.
