PTO Co-Presidents Newsletter: April 2016

Dear Zervas Families:

It was great to see a record number of you at our Auction party this past Saturday night! We are so appreciative of your widespread involvement through bidding generously, donating community parties and playdates and other items, contributing to the grade baskets, participating in the teacher/staff raffle and attending the live party. Our incredible auction committee worked extremely hard over the last few months in soliciting donations from Zervas families and the community at large, planning food, drinks, decorations and entertainment, publicizing the online auction and live party, organizing the teacher/staff raffle and coordinating donations from our fabulous fifth graders. Please show your appreciation to our committee and other volunteers, including Kristen Beaupre, Krystle Benedict, Stephanie Berzin, Cara Church, Alicia Collins, Steve Davenport, Aaron Davis, Tim D’Souza, Noemy Ehrlich, Barbara Erickson, Wendy Feiner, Scott Friedman, Alison Kapilow, Craig Kapilow, Kristin Knuuttila, Jackie Lee, Becky Mozaffarian, Jon Nesbit, Jillian Queen, Dion Rhodes, Sanskriti Singh, Rohit Singh, Ori Spigelman, Kathryn Tasgal and Mira Woods. We’d also like to extend a special thank you to our grade parents Wendy Feiner, Becky Mozaffarian, Suzanne Chow, Mindy Gomes Casseres, Kirsten Fertuck, Anandini Sekhar, Jessica Savage, Natascha Gundersen, Matt Goldstein and Meryl Miller, who assembled amazing baskets and supported our committee by soliciting community donations and encouraging parents to bid on them! And thank you to Madhu Natarajan for helping us get the word out to you about everything going on. We are always looking for more volunteers so please let us know if you are interested in taking a part in planning next year’s auction!

Now also is the time for us to recruit volunteers for other committees for the 2016-17 school year.  One of the approaches we use to fill open positions is the use of a Nominating Committee, comprised of PTO Board members and parents from each grade. The committee thoughtfully and confidentially considers the interests and talents of potential volunteers, as well as their time availability and other known commitments, to identify volunteers who might enjoy and succeed at certain positions. Our goal is to include as many of you as possible in some way, whether it is as a committee chair, board member or committee member.  Please don’t hesitate to call us, send us an email at pto@zervaspto.org or approach any Board member to let us know that you are interested in getting more involved and we will find a fit for you. We are looking forward to having many new and returning volunteers in the coming school year!

Stay tuned for more information about our Family Cultural Event on Sunday, June 5 from 5-7 pm at Carr (note this was previously scheduled for May 22 but we needed to change the date).  We hope you and your family will join us for potluck dishes from the many different cultures that are part of our diverse community, entertainment and great conversation.

Enjoy the spring weather!
