Dear Zervas Parents,
Holy Mural! If you are in Carr in the next couple of weeks, poke your head into the art room. An amazing work of art is being created by your children. Even better, volunteer here to help during an art class or before the Family Cultural dinner. Muralist David Fichter works so well with the kids. Thanks to Zervas Art Teacher Rachael Simkins for her support and leadership. This project would not have happened without Maggie Schmidt’s vision, advocacy, and legwork!
Speaking of the Family Cultural dinner, please join us on Sunday, May 7th from 5:00-7:00 to celebrate the many unique cultures that make up the Zervas community. A potluck dinner will be followed by lively entertainment by African-American storyteller Len Cabral. Find more details here or contact Amy Behrens with questions. Check out the new summer items of Zervas Spirit Wear available online here from May 8th through May 21st. There are new short sleeve shirts, including tie-dye options, as well as cool athletic shorts. This is not a fundraiser, just a chance to show your school spirit. Thanks to Sera Miller for organizing the sale!
Save the date for the Spring Family Picnic, Wednesday, June 14th from 6-7:30. No need to cook that night! Just bring a blanket to sit on and the PTO will take care of the rest.
We are beginning to plan for the 2017-18 school and have a number of open positions on our PTO committees, including on the PTO board. Most of us on the PTO board also work outside of the home so it’s not too overwhelming of a commitment. If you have been looking to get more involved in Zervas, we can find a job that would suit you. Volunteering really helps you get to know other parents in the community, as well as the students in your child’s grade. Please reach out to us at pto@zervaspto.org.
